Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation Recognizes LPK for Significant Support in the Fight against Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation recognizes Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP, for its continued partnership in the fight against mesothelioma and for its significant support for peer-reviewed mesothelioma research, trusted medical information, and patient care.
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia, July 8, 2011 - The Executive Director of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (formerly known as "MARF") Kathy Wiedemer has issued a videotaped statement recognizing the mesothelioma lawyers from Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, LLP ("LPK") for providing significant support in 2011 for the foundation’s work, which includes funding peer-reviewed research and advancing patient care. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation provides research grants that are selected by its Scientific Advisory Board led by Dr. Lee M. Krug of Memorial Sloan Cancer Center in New York.
LPK, a national mesothelioma law firm, which has represented workers and families affected by mesothelioma for more than 25 years, has committed $250,000 in donations to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation for 2011 through the organization's "Legal Partners for a Cure" program.
According to Kathy Wiedemer, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is the world’s largest non-profit organization in the fight to cure mesothelioma." In her videotaped statement, Ms. Wiedemer recognized LPK for being a "2011 Legal Partner for a Cure" and emphasized that this partnership "provides significant support for peer-reviewed research, trusted medical information and patient care."
LPK’s support of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation dates back to the founding of the organization. LPK partner Robert Komitor spearheaded the firm’s support of the foundation in the late 1990s and has continued to be an active supporter through the present. Last month, Mr. Komitor along with the firm partner Jerome Block, attended the 2011 International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma held by the organization in Washington D.C. Both partners joined a delegation of families affected by mesothelioma in meetings with Congressional aides for the purpose of obtaining more federal funding for mesothelioma research. The symposium included presentations by many of the world’s leading mesothelioma researchers, as well as surgeons, oncologists and nurses with vast experience treating mesothelioma. The symposium also included presentations by mesothelioma survivors as well as an open questions and answers session during which Mr. Komitor answered the attendees' questions about various aspects of mesothelioma litigation.
Through its strong support of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, LPK has recognized that the fight against mesothelioma extends beyond the courtroom. LPK is proud of its support of the Meso Foundation, the world’s largest non-profit organization working to cure mesothelioma. LPK is also proud of its track-record of representing men and women afflicted by mesothelioma for more than 25 years. These workers come from all walks of life and trades, including pipefitters, auto mechanics, shipyard workers, carpenters, industrial workers, handymen, painters, and family members who laundered or had contact with the clothing of workers exposed to asbestos.
IMPORTANT:
If you or your family member has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, you should get in touch with a mesothelioma lawyer as early as possible to determine if you have a mesothelioma case and to:
- Preserve your rights to bring a legal action against the responsible parties within the limited time frame allowed by law, known as statute of limitations;
- Obtain maximum compensation in your case by being able to:
- Preserve evidence and establish facts of the asbestos exposure while the claimant is still alive and able to provide information;
- File and resolve a lawsuit against the responsible parties before they file for bankruptcy or, if they already have, to obtain compensation before their bankruptcy trust funds run out of money;
- Expedite your case, as courts tend to give higher priority to mesothelioma lawsuits where the claimant is still alive.
Find out whether you have a case by speaking to one of our experienced mesothelioma attorneys via our 24/7 toll-free hotline at 1-800-MESOLAW (1-800-637-6529) or by submitting an email inquiry (see form above). Our attorneys will be quick to respond to you and happy to answer all of your questions.
